Pennsylvania Drivers

Now don’t get me wrong – I am sure that there are a LOT of drivers in Pennsylvania who are perfect drivers but the ones that come to our little neck of the woods appear to be lacking in that department. Ohhh and before you start sending me hate mail – I understand that these folks are probably lost and that they are on vacation (and a bit distracted) but they have to remember that... read more

At the tone the time will be…

5:55pm. How many times during the day do you look at the clock and see a string of the same numbers? For me it is almost every single time and it is starting to freak me out a little bit. I kinda feel like that part in the matrix where Keanu Reeves sees the cat walk by and then it walks by again. Granted it never happens between the hours of 6 and 12 but I can’t count how many times I... read more

Health Care

Way back in 1991 we got health insurance.   It cost us $300 a month for the three of us and we hung onto it for over 15 years.  We never missed a payment.  Rarely used it and to thank us for being loyal customers they kept jacking up the premiums. Every year we would adjust our wallets in order to keep the insurance but back in 2009 the cost of the insurance policy finally exceeded $1000.00 a month. ... read more

Echoes

Echoes © 2000 Tanya Cropper The sound is faint, a  soft clicking noise, coming from far away. Sort of like the spike of a high heel tapping a long a stone walk and yet it doesn’t progress, it doesn’t recede. photo courtesy of Abiomed The sound is a constant, echoing in my ears. I look for it source, searching…. I know it is there, I can feel it. Tapping…. tapping. It’s... read more

Feeding the local wildlife

I woke up this morning (well okay so technically it was afternoon but whatever) and I wandered down to my office to find that my desk had been invaded by the local wildlife. There was a trail of ants marching too and fro carrying little bits of what appeared to be last night’s midnight snack.  (I really do need to learn how to throw stuff away when I am done with it!) Anywhooooooo while... read more

We didn’t get a refund

AKA:  My appliances apparently do not understand English. This year we didn’t get a refund from Uncle Sam – in fact he nicely requested that we pay him promptly on April 15th.  Now most of you are probably thinking that this is a good thing because it means we made more money than normal.  NOPE. Our lovely son grew out of the EIC bracket and left us in a lurch.  (inconsiderate little... read more

Wally’s Garage

Wally’s Garage

This is a website that I did for my husband who owns a garage in Berlin Maryland.   I had fun drawing the garage and the stuff inside it.  (if you mouse over the navigation or the doors they open up!) My husband still has to work on some of the content but until then I am calling it done. www.wallysgarage.com  Read More →

Saline

Saline – a poem by Tanya A drop of moisture falls gently from the edge, soundlessly onto the softness below. Slowly it glides along the contours, leaving a part of itself behind. A trail glistening with life, that slowly fades and then is gone. A vague memory… The journey is pointless, suicidal…  unnecessary… and yet another drop falls to travel in its wake. You look upon these... read more

If I die today…

I figure if I die today it will be one less thing I have to do tomorrow. I know that death isn’t supposed to be funny but when it is your own death I think there is some lead way in there. Before you jump to conclusions – I am not dying (at least I don’t think I am) but when you reach a certain age you start thinking about your impending mortality quite often. You think about what... read more
